Advocacy is proven to be more effective when like-minded groups and people work together. This is why a strong focus for ENERGIA has been to build strong collaborations and double the impact of this advocacy work.
ENERGIA co-hosted and participated in events and preparatory meetings with partners, building a strong network committed to mainstreaming gender in the energy sector. These activities aimed to be informative and provide policymakers with information relevant to our cause. This resulted in a wider recognition of gender and energy linkages in the energy negotiations at international meetings, such as WSSD, the recognition of women as a “major group”, which ENERGIA represented in UN plenary sessions and the inclusion of the gender perspective into new activities initiated as outcomes of the WSSD.
