ENERGIA strengthened research efforts with the aim to deepen the understanding and knowledge of the interlinkages between gender and energy, as well as to show how these objectives serve other goals, such as empowerment, poverty reduction, security, education and environmental protection.

ENERGIA conducted research in collaboration with partners and carried out an analysis of existing literature. In addition, implementation of gender-sensitive projects produced evidence on the benefits of gender-specific actions. The outcomes of these projects aimed to demonstrate how their impact could be replicated.

Our outputs included:

• Case studies that provided evidence on how gender mainstreaming impacts women in rural areas, and the conditions required to achieve such impacts.
• Informational material on gender mainstreaming processes at the organizational and policy levels.
